Who's Doing What?
Come to a half-day workshop with award-winning, prolific, and best-selling author Debbie Dadey and RMC-SCBWI Co-Regional Advisor and author Denise Vega. This workshop is designed to get you thinking about plot and character in your own books and stories. Books by the authors will be available for purchase and autographing, courtesy of City News in Cheyenne. Workshop Fees

| 8:30 - 9:30– Buried Treasure: Digging Deep for Engaging Characters - Denise Vega Time and again editors say they are looking for engaging characters and a unique voice. What does this mean? How can I develop unique characters in my work? In this session we will explore ways to make our characters stronger and more unique with author Denise Vega, whose first novel, Click Here (To Find Out How I Survived Seventh Grade), has been lauded for its authentic middle school voice and appealing characters. If you have a character or characters you are working on right now, feel free to bring scenes or descriptions to the session. If time permits, we will go over a few for those who wish to share. |

She has also written such acclaimed novels as Whistler's Hollow, and a number of picture books and stand-alone books for middle school readers. She will share insights into the writing process, which apply to adult and children's authors, and give tips to avoid writing pitfalls.
