| To Purgatory and Back: The Historical Novel | If you would like to receive feedback from Mary Peace Finley on a manuscript of historical fiction you are currently working on, please follow these instructions: Prepare up to 100-word passage from a work-in-progress that integrates historical information with story and character. This can be a passage that is problematic or one that delights you. Mary will provide feedback on some of the submissions during her session on September 13. Feel free to bring a second copy with you to the session for note-taking. Please understand that because of time constraints, Mary may not get to all submissions during her session. To submit a passage of 100 words or less for critique, include your name, the historical setting, and the time period at the top of the page and send it postmarked by September 6, 2003 to: Mary Peace Finley 230 Via Linda Vista Manitou Springs, Colorado 80829 |
| Group Portfolio Review |
Bring your portfolio with you on September 13. Do not mail it. Portfolios should measure no more than 24" x 32" (the standard large portfolio size) and contain no more than 12 pieces. Only the first three to twelve pieces will be reviewed, depending on the quantity of portfolios. Each piece should be your very best work, presented as neatly as possible. You may also bring take-home pieces for the reviewers. In addition, prepare a 3-5 sentence statement about your work: what your strengths are and what markets you are targeting. Please be prepared to recite your statement to the reviewers at the Group Portfolio Review. If you have questions, contact Lori Kiplinger Pandy at lpandy@earthlink.net. |
| Personal Portfolio Evaluation Sessions | Bring your portfolio with you on September 13. Portfolios should measure no more than 24" x 32" (the standard large portfolio size) and contain no more than 15 pieces. You may include works in progress. These fifteen-minute, one-on-one meetings with Cyd Moore are offered at $20. Only ten spots are available; if more than ten people request portfolio evaluations, a lottery will be held. If you have questions, contact Lori Kiplinger Pandy at lpandy@earthlink.net. |
