MEMBER BOOK SALE

If you are a member of SCBWI, have a children's book you've authored or illustrated, and will be attending the Fall Conference September 23, you may have your book(s) included in the member book sale. Due to the popularity of this offering, the book table cannot accept books which have not been registered by Friday, September 8, 2006 ( September 1 if requesting that Bo Peep Books order books for you). We also cannot sell books by members who will not be attending the conference.

Note: If Bo Peep Books is purchasing books for you (see "Bo Peep Books" below), only five copies per title will be purchased. If you want more on hand, you will need to supply additional copies yourself, up to the combined total of 25 books.

BO PEEP BOOKS

As a courtesy to authors who do not keep quantities of their titles on hand, Shirley Sternola of Bo Peep Books has offered to purchase books. Please note that Shirley is only able to obtain books that are readily available, not out of print, POD (Print on Demand), or self-published books. If you want to have Bo Peep Books order for you, you must submit your request no later than Friday, September 1st . There can be no exceptions to this deadline to ensure books arrive on time. Shirley will contact you if she has questions.

TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOOK SALE

Once you have registered following the procedure above, please follow these steps:

1. BRING (1) all copies of your books, and (2) a 5 x 7 or 8 x10 photograph of yourself (if available) in a stand. The photograph will make it easier for buyers to find you for autographs. Please bring these items to the conference no later than 7:45 AM on September 23. Staffers will be there as early as 7:00 a.m. to check in your books.

2. CHECK IN your books with RMC-SCBWI at the book table. Book table staff will count the copies with you before displaying them and ask you to initial the count to confirm. RMC-SCBWI Book staffers will arrange the books according to space available. Please don't rearrange your books once they have been set up.

3. SALES . The book table staff will handle ALL sales at the conference. No private sales by authors (or the author's spouse, children, grandmother, Golden Retriever, etc.) This can create confusion and undermines the hard work Shirley Sternola and Bo Peep Books does for our chapter.

4. RECONCILE BOOKS . At the end of the conference, the books will be recounted and authors and illustrators who have brought their own copies will receive a copy of the Book Intake Form for their records. If you brought books to sell, you are responsible for picking them up after the conference. Those that are not picked up will be donated to libraries or local charities. Shirley will handle returns for any books she purchased.

5. RECEIVE PAYMENT . You will receive payment a few weeks after the event. Once the sales have been completely tallied, Bo Peep Books will send you a check for the total amount due minus Bo Peep Books fees. Note: Books purchased by Bo Peep books and sold at the conference will be reflected on authors' or illustrators' royalty statements and authors/illustrators will not receive payment for these sales from RMC-SCBWI or Bo Peep Books.

AUTOGRAPHING

We will have an autographing session in the afternoon. Stations will be set up in one of the rooms at the Green Center . Look for your spot during this session so others may find you for autographs.
