At the end of last summer's retreat with Lesléa Newman, participants were saying, "We want MORE!" Whether you were there last year and "want more" or heard about it and wished you had been there, the 2004 retreat is for you. Lesléa's workshops will be different from last year's and appropriate for both groups. Start fresh or bring a work-in-progress—you will come away with material you didn't know was inside you.

If you attend the summer retreat, you will:

do short, spontaneous writings, many based on exercises in Lesléa's book, Write from the Heart. These can be brand new or related to one of your works-in-progress.

create new characters or work on existing characters.

explore new ways to approach your writing.

learn about research, voice, structure, and building tension.

explore techniques for rewriting and revising.

create in a relaxing atmosphere.

Lesléa Newman is an award-winning writer of novels, picture books, short stories, poetry, and nonfiction. She writes for both children and adults, and has been leading creative writing workshops for over 20 years. Lesléa's goal is for writers to enjoy themselves at the retreat and leave inspired and hopeful.

Early registration deadline: May 15

We need 25 paid registrations by May 15 to be able to hold the retreat. Otherwise, we will regretfully have to cancel. (Late registrations will be accepted through July 9, if space is still available.)
