The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators began in 1976 with a small group of dedicated writers.  Back then it was the Society of Children’s Book Writers, the “I” for Illustrators was added years later.

The Rocky Mountain chapter has grown from just a handful of members to over 500 today, encompassing both Colorado and Wyoming. Our members are National Book Award Finalists, Newbery Award and Newbery Honor winners, Colorado Book Award winners, and more.

Our chapter has authors and illustrators who are well-published and those who are new to the field. All are welcome as we continue to grow and develop programs to meet the changing needs of the membership.
